Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and small-group ESL/EAL support for students from Primary to SJC with beginner to developing English proficiency.
Adapt teaching approaches appropriately for different age groups and proficiency levels, from young learners in Primary to older students in Secondary and Junior College.
Develop students’ foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and academic English.
Work collaboratively with English, Mathematics, Science, and other subject teachers to identify the language skills and academic vocabulary students need to access their lessons successfully.
Help students build the academic English required for core Cambridge subjects, particularly English, Mathematics, and Science.
Support students in understanding classroom instructions, textbooks, mathematical word problems, scientific terminology, examination questions, and assessment tasks written in English.
Develop differentiated and bridging materials that connect English language development with the Cambridge Curriculum.
Provide targeted intervention for students experiencing difficulty accessing subject content because of language barriers.
Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to identify students’ English proficiency levels, learning gaps, and progress.
Provide bridging and intervention support for newly enrolled students with limited English proficiency.
Collaborate regularly with classroom and subject teachers to monitor students’ progress toward greater independence in their mainstream Cambridge classes.
Maintain clear records of student progress and provide recommendations for continued support.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in English, English Education, English Language Teaching, Linguistics, TESOL, or a closely related field.
Strong command of spoken and written English.
Extensive experience teaching ESL/EFL/EAL or English to foreign/international students.
Demonstrated ability to teach and support students across a wide age range, preferably from Primary to Secondary/Junior College level.
Experience supporting students with beginner or very limited English proficiency is highly preferred.
Experience supporting academic English across different subject areas, particularly English, Mathematics, and Science, is highly desirable.
Familiarity with or experience teaching/supporting students under the Cambridge International Curriculum is highly preferred.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction, scaffolding, intervention strategies, and second-language acquisition.
Ability to collaborate effectively with subject teachers and adapt language-support strategies across different academic areas and age groups.
Willingness and flexibility to work at either the Setraduta or KBP Campus, depending on school and student needs.
Ability to communicate well in Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin Chinese
