Purchasing Manager (Rig Services Company)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our team in Jakarta on a full-time basis. This is a strategic position within our rig services operations, responsible for overseeing all procurement activities and managing supplier relationships to ensure the timely delivery of quality materials and services at competitive costs. The Purchasing Manager will play a crucial role in supporting our operational objectives by optimising procurement processes, maintaining inventory control, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies. This role reports to senior management and is integral to the success of our rig services division.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies aligned with operational requirements and company objectives

• Manage the complete procurement cycle, including requisition processing, vendor selection, negotiations, and contract management

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting due diligence and maintaining a qualified vendor database for rig services materials and equipment

• Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers to achieve cost savings whilst maintaining quality and service standards

• Monitor supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct regular performance reviews

• Coordinate with operations, engineering, and finance departments to ensure procurement activities support operational schedules and budgets

• Manage inventory levels and material control to minimise waste and ensure availability of critical supplies

• Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations, including HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) standards

• Prepare procurement reports and analyse spending patterns to identify cost optimisation opportunities

• Lead and supervise the purchasing team, providing guidance, training, and performance management

• Handle supplier communications, resolve disputes, and manage logistics and delivery schedules

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field

• Minimum 5–7 years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably within the oil and gas, energy, or rig services industry

• Proven track record of successful vendor management and cost negotiation in a complex operational environment

• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, supply chain management, and inventory control systems

• Experience with procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build strong supplier relationships

• Proficiency in English (both written and spoken); Indonesian language skills are advantageous

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

• Knowledge of HSE regulations and compliance requirements in the oil and gas industry

• Project management capabilities and experience managing procurement budgets

• Familiarity with rig operations, oilfield equipment, and specialised materials used in the oil and gas sector is highly desirable
