School Counselor / Psychologist

About the Role

Mahatma Gandhi School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support the academic, social, emotional, and personal development of our students. The ideal candidate is passionate about student wellbeing, has excellent communication and counseling skills, and is committed to creating a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling for students experiencing academic, emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.

• Support students' personal, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to develop appropriate intervention strategies.

• Conduct student assessments, observations, and prepare counseling reports when required.

• Assist in crisis intervention and safeguarding procedures.

• Organize and facilitate workshops, awareness programs, and guidance sessions for students and parents.

• Maintain accurate and confidential student records.

• Promote positive behavior, resilience, and social-emotional learning throughout the school community.

• Refer students to external professionals when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Guidance & Counseling, or a related field.

• Licensed Psychologist or certified School Counselor is preferred.

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a School Counselor, preferably in an international or private school.

• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters professionally.

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.

• Able to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and school management.

• Can join as soon as possible.
