Core Duties of a Captain Waiter in Catering
- Guest Reception – Welcome guests, assist in seating, and ensure VIPs are prioritized.
- Menu Guidance – Explain buffet or plated menu options, handle dietary requests.
- Order & Service Coordination – Relay instructions to waiters, ensure food and drinks are served on time.
- Section Supervision – Assign waiters to specific tables/sections and monitor their performance.
- Quality Control – Check food presentation, table setup, and service pacing.
- Complaint Handling – Address guest concerns immediately and escalate if needed.
Responsibilities Specific to Catering Events
- Pre?event briefing – Orient waiters on event theme, menu, and client expectations.
- Table Setup Oversight – Ensure linens, cutlery, and glassware are properly arranged.
- Buffet/Plated Service Supervision – Manage flow of guests at buffet or coordinate plated service timing.
- Post?event wrap?up – Supervise clearing of tables, inventory of service ware, and staff dismissal.
